Finally my Berlina got home. My wife automatically named it Rusty, but I know she'll rename her again after she gets done.
Deconstruction begins. I'm so happy with the metal condition. Other than the usual places; floor pans, trunk floor, door bottoms and fender bottoms the metal is really good and strong still. Major surface rust that easily came off with a silicon carbide stripping disc using my 4.5" grinder. Depending on the damage I find I'm going to media blast or dip the body. I can mechanically strip the outer body but I'm concern with the surface rust in those areas a grinder cannot reach.
Well; time to remove the dashboard;
Being careful to not damage the wiring cause I'm going to have to rebuild it later. Mechanical is easy for me, the metal work I can do, but the electrical scares me....well I'm going to have to step up my game.
So much dust!!!
Dashboard off. Just emailed justdashes.com for a restoration quote.
